Online registration available through this link

All presenters of ORAL & POSTER papers are requested to submit manuscripts for the conference volume. We are pleased to advise that Dr Frank Seebacher, University of Sydney has agreed to join the Natural Events editorial team.

As with the previous meeting [Ithala 2004] publishing will occur through two mechanisms.

1) Symposium Synthesia
2) Invidual Papers in a Conference Volume

PBZ Cover fro Ithala 20041) We are pleased to advise that the Editors of Physiological and Biochemical Zoology have again agreed to publish the symposia synthesia for MARA 2008.

This will be done in a very similar manner as to was employed for Ithala 2004. You can view that published volume at:
http://www.journals.uchicago.edu/toc/pbz/2006/79/2
if you do not have access, contact us and we will try to get some material to you.

The editors of PBZ have again proposed that each symposium session contribute an ‘overview’ or ‘synthesia’ paper - which is to reflect the theme of the session, and will be published collectively after the normal peer review process. We think this is continues to be a novel and exciting idea.

The different symposia session chairs will determine exactly how each theme is to be represented. In some cases, especially where the session is large, the organizer might elect to compose an overview or review of the theme. In other cases, the session chair may elect to co-opt some or all of the speakers into a co-authored paper. These options were both employed previously.

Individual delegates should be contacted by their session chair but otherwise should contact that person to determine how their session might be represented. Instructions for submitting synthesia papers.

2) The 2nd mechanism that we have started planning is a repeat of the highly successful conference volume published in the "International Congress Series"
if you do not have access, contact us and we will try to get some material to you.

This volume will be published through MEDIMOND International Proceedings and indexed in ISI Current Contents - Conference Proceedings.

Concerned about publishing in a Proceedings Volume?
What sort of paper is expected from you?
Please see an outline explantion at this link

This allows each and every author to publish their paper (up to 8 printed pages without specific page charges) in a recognized journal available online with full referencing in Current Contents etc. Several delegates who previously did not take up this option subsequently expressed their regret. We think the volume is really great. Longer reviews may be possible for a relatively small surcharge.

All registered delegates receive a volume but there remains the possibility of a ~$20 fee for each author . A rather token amount.

How to prepare & submit the paper for PBZ

Since some of these papers may depend on ‘discussion’ and ‘collaboration’ between speakers we are determining that the final version of these MS should be available either at the meeting or within 45 days (September 27). However, we urge and encourage submission as soon as possible. The papers should be submitted online via http://pbz.uci.edu/submissions/

We may be able to facilitate online submission during the conference.
