STAR ALLIANCE Travel via FRANKFURT: Issues !
There are essentially no direct flights from Frankfurt to Nairobi

Traveling from Europe or via Europe to Nairobi? Especially as a Star Alliance flier. A quick look at Lufthansa's website reveals that Kenya is no longer available through their booking. Their PDF timetable download does list a daily flight but from/to Zurich which is with the Star Alliance partner Swiss Air. Flights via Frankfurt will need to connect for example, through Amsterdam with KLM or through Dubai with Emirates.

For example, A KLM flight seems to arrive in Nairobi in time to clear customs/immigration on July 19 in time for direct transfer to the Mara but leaves too early on July 25, requiring and overnight stay. The Emirates flight arrives too late on 19 needing a July 18 arrival. If you become frustrated by hours with Google or your travel agent please feel free to contact us!

Note: South African Airways are recent Star Alliance additions. SAA fly to Nairobi from Johannesburg (dep ~9 am arrv ~2.40 pm). SAA fly from Washington: Dulles and JFK to Johannesburg (arrival mid-afternoon in JNB), connections to other US cities by United or US Airways. SAA code-share with QANTAS and thus have Sydney and Perth departures. QANTAS are not Star Alliance members.
