How can I use RSS?

There are several ways to access RSS feeds. You can install an RSS reader that displays RSS feeds from the Web sites you select. Like an e-mail program, an RSS reader will monitor the Web sites you select for the latest news and articles. A number of free and commercial RSS readers are available for download. To find an RSS reader, click here [Google search].

1) Some browsers, including Firefox, Netscape Opera, and Internet Explorer 7 will automatically detect pages that offer RSS feeds (the appropriate icon should show in the browser header or bottom right corner of this page). MAC users - SAFARI should find the RSS feed.

Internet Explorer 7 users
, click to see and add feed. The icons allow you to view and subscribe to feeds

Firefox users, right-click and add live bookmark. You should also add to "toolbar bookmarks'.

2) Using OUTLOOK or EXPRESS as your mail client? At Natural Events one of the RSS aggregators we use is RSS-popper which is currently free and integrates to deliver the RSS feeds into your mail box - no need for a separate web-window application.

After installing an RSS reader, you can subscribe to each feed manually as follows:

  1. Copy the Feed URL for the RSS feed you want to your clipboard.
  2. Paste it into the “Add Feed…” or “New Feed…” dialog of your RSS reader.

3) Use a web-based RSS aggregator. To find a stand-alone RSS reader independent of browser or mail client , click here [Google search]. Otherwise a good place to start is: http://www.rssreader.com/
