Views of the Mara & the Migration

Costs, Payment Schedule &
Rationale:
Mara 2008

Delegates should be prepared to meet this specific payment schedule:

The organizers of the International Conference in Africa for Comparative Physiology & Biochemistry meeting series, work hard to bring these meetings to locations with outstanding biological interest and appeal. We focus on venues and programs that are free of the normal distractions and encourage relaxed interaction and collaboration between colleagues.

For the 2008 meeting we have selected the Mara Simba Lodge and Keekorok Lodge, Maasai Mara National Reserve, in the "Great Rift Valley" of Kenya. In order to secure the entire lodge it has been necessary to agree to a specific payment schedule. Thus, delegates and symposium session organizers will need to meet this schedule for payment

We are aware that compared to 'normal' meetings this represents relatively early payment. This is the only basis on which the venue and the meeting could be secured.

The Mara Simba Lodge is an extraordinary venue; and has recently been awarded the highest (5 star) ranking for service of any Lodge in Kenya, and received special recognition for environmentally sensitive management practices. The Keekorok Lodge was the original and first Maasai Mara Lodge and is one of the most highly recommended lodges in the region.

Such venues offer limited capacity and are under very high seasonal demand from the Safari tourist industry. This is especially true of the Maasai Mara - July - September: when the famed wildebeest and zebra migration moves from the Serengeti into the Mara.

Keekorok Lodge: standard rooms
Comfortable shaded chalets, all made of indigenous materials such as cedar, pink and gray sand river stone, which offset the green lawns and colourful bougainvillea
